Tommy
Smiths life is and has been the HVAC industry. At 13,
he started working in the summers for his father in Shreveport,
LA. That first job, insulating ducts, persuaded Tom to learn
new skills - and at age 18 he was promoted to service technician.
After graduating from college with honors and a degree in Business
Administration, Tom progressed from service manager to salesman
to president of his fathers company.
The
need for change, ever-present in Toms life, first resulted
in the start-up and successful operation of his own HVAC company.
Next came an 11-year career with The Trane Co. where he started
as a Territory Manager. During his stint in sales, Tom developed
a method for teaching dealers how to sell high-end equipment
(he calls it the "Good Stuff") at high margins. He
was so successful that he won numerous national awards and was
considered Tranes preeminent salesman for high-end equipment.
He was also promoted to Regional Training Manager where his
innovative training philosophy could be taken to a much larger
audience. Toms last job for Trane, Distribution Development
Leader, resulted in more national recognition. This time it
was for writing sales management software designed to track
and evaluate distributor "Good Stuff" sales.
And
now, using his considerable experience, motivational training
style and financial management skills, Tom is helping HVAC companies
all across North America build more dynamic, fun and profitable
businesses.
